Official IBA Cosmopolitan Recipe
In search of the best Cosmopolitan let’s review and measure the benchmark of Cosmopolitan recipes from
the International Bartenders Association:
Ingredients:
COSMOPOLITAN (Large cocktail glass)
4.0 cl. Vodka Citron
1.5 cl. Cointreau
1.5 cl. Fresh Lime juice
3.0 cl. Cranberry juice
Preparation: Add all ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well and strain into large cocktail glass.
Garnish with lime slice.
To convert the official recipe from the metric unit centiliter is easy.
One Centiliter is equivalent to .34 fluid ounces. A common bar measurement is a “jigger” that is equal to 1.5
fluid ounces or you many run across the term “pony” that is equivalent to 1 fluid ounce. Looking at the
official recipe in ounces use:
Ingredients:
COSMOPOLITAN (Large cocktail glass)
1 ½ oz Vodka Citron
½ oz Cointreau
½ oz Fresh Lime juice
1 oz Cranberry juice
Preparation:
Add all ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well and strain into large cocktail glass.
Garnish with lime slice.
Using the Official Cosmopolitan Recipe yields a three and one half ounce cocktail that
has between 158 and 198 calories, depending on your proof of vodka.
This may not seem like allot of calories a first glance but consider this is for a 3 1/2 ounce cocktail. That
will hardly fill today's jumbo sized martini glasses!
